La profesora Vanessa Harding ha investigado cómo afectó la vida de los londinenses las sucesivas plagas que tuvieron en los períodos isabelinos y jacobinos. El mismo Shakespeare, de niño, sobrevivió a una de ellas. Cierre de teatros y elencos haciendo giras, la necesidad de supervivencia de los actores y escritores, entre otros temas son tratados de una manera exhaustiva.

Professor Vanessa Harding has investigated how the successive plagues of the Elizabethan and Jacobean periods affected the lives of Londoners. Shakespeare himself, as a child, survived one of them. Closing of theaters and companies doing tours, the need for survival of actors and writers, among other issues are treated in an exhaustive manner.
She is currently the Birkbeck Professor, University of London. (UK).
